By the time Cecilia (Elisabeth Moss) realised she was dating a psychopath, it was too late. Isolated in the luxurious mansion of a possessive inventor, she realises that if she is to survive, she must escape. She manages to do so, and when she learns from the ex-boyfriend's lawyer that he couldn't bear to see her leave and committed suicide, she can finally breathe freely again after all these years. What's more, she's rich, because her ex-boyfriend, perhaps in a perverse gesture, left her a huge fortune. So why does she continue to be so restless? Why is she still on edge? Why are there things happening around her that she can't explain and that are increasingly frightening in their progression and consequence?
There are only two alternatives. Either Cecilia has gone regularly insane, or there is someone who is literally Invisible and has one goal - to take away everything she has ever cared about in her life. But how can you fight an adversary you can't see, and who perhaps moreover exists only in your head?
