Destroying the devil within himself is the main scientific goal of Bruce Banner (Edward Norton), whose extreme mood swings were caused by extraordinarily powerful radiation exposure. Bruce does not take pleasure in his extraordinary abilities; on the contrary, he suffers because of them, living outside civilization, voluntarily isolated from the love of his life, Betty Ross (Liv Tyler), and her father, Army General Thaddeus Ross (William Hurt), who would like to exploit Bruce’s abilities for the benefit of the U.S. armed forces.
