In a Las Vegas casino, millionaire John Gage (Robert Redford) meets Diana (Demi Moore) and her husband David (Woody Harrelson), an architect. Due to David’s unemployment, the young couple finds themselves in financial trouble and decides to risk all their money in a gamble. When they fail, they reluctantly accept Gage’s proposal: he offers David one million dollars for a single night with his wife. The next morning, nothing is the same between Diana and David. Although they never speak about that night, it stands between them like a wall, and the couple eventually separates. Diana begins seeing Gage, while David drowns his sorrow in alcohol and self-pity. In the end, however, they are reunited, as Gage—who truly loves Diana—chooses to give her up for the sake of her husband...
