‘Forever’ is a moving film about love, sacrifice and the afterlife, following the story of legendary firefighter and pilot Pete Sandich. Pete is respected in his field and loves Dorinda Durston, but his risky job and refusal to settle down and start a family earn him ridicule from his friends and loved ones. Although Dorinda longs to fly, Pete decides to end his dangerous career as he prepares for his last big mission to extinguish a large forest fire. During this operation, he saves his friend Al from an accident, but dies himself. His soul is then brought before the heavenly court, where the angel Hap appears to him in the form of a white woman and gives him the chance to return to Earth to help a young pilot, Ted Baker, and also to deal with his feelings for Dorinda. Pete appears only to Ted, who can hear and see him only at certain moments, and teaches him the art of flying and how to be brave and honest. Ted gradually wins Dorinda's affection, especially after he saves a school bus, and Pete becomes her invisible guide and advisor. Hap warns Pete that his time is running out and gives him one last chance to say goodbye to Dorinda. At that moment, however, a large forest fire breaks out, and Dorinda, who decides to save Ted, finds herself in danger similar to that which cost Pete his life. The film explores the themes of immortality, determination and love that transcends death, showing how determination and sacrifice can change the fate of not only individuals but also their loved ones.
