The year is 1888, and we are in a French colony in Africa. Lieutenant Servadac falls in love with the beautiful Italian woman Angelica, who saves him from drowning. Before he can confess his love to her, a massive comet passes extremely close to Earth. Its gravitational pull tears away a small piece of the planet — precisely the area where our heroes are located. Servadac and Angelica, together with the military garrison of a French fort, a Spanish ship, and an African town with its inhabitants, are hurled into space, destination unknown. Although this small group of people is completely isolated on the comet, the struggle for power between the feuding nations continues…
