High school student Tripp (Lucas Till) is looking for any way to break free from life and get away from the town he was born in. He builds his own monster truck out of bits and pieces of junked cars. After an unfortunate accident at a nearby oil well, a strange underground creature with a great taste and talent for speed emerges.
Tripp discovers that this underground creature is not hostile. And thanks to him, he may have found the key to getting out of the town where he doesn't want to spend his life, especially with the help of a very unusual new friend...
