Like any good thief, Miles Logan (Martin Lawrence) is a consummate professional. He would surely have pulled off this job involving a $20 million diamond if the greedy traitor Deacon hadn't infiltrated his team. As it is, Miles is glad that he didn't lose his life in the botched operation and ultimately got off with only a two-year sentence. In addition to his cheerful disposition, his optimism is fueled by the fact that he managed to hide the stolen diamond in the ventilation shaft of a newly constructed building at the last minute.
The twenty million in precious stones are safer there than in the most sophisticated safe in town. However, fate is a cruel joker. After his release from prison, Miles discovers that he hid his diamond in a police station under construction. How to get into the ventilation shaft between the homicide and robbery departments? After several unsuccessful attempts, Miles decides on a crazy risky plan. He has a forger make him a fake police badge and service records and joins the robbery department.
