Government officials are somewhat fed up with the unorthodox working methods of the secret government service IMF (Impossible Mission Force), so they dissolve it and want to hold its boss, Ethan Hunt, accountable. Meanwhile, a mythical organization called the Syndicate, whose members are renegade secret agents, begins to make its presence felt. Its goal is to establish a slightly different world order through controlled terrorist attacks. Although Hunt has no official authorization to take action against the Syndicate and is operating illegally, he gathers his experienced partners (Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and Jeremy Renner) and attempts to stop these professional terrorists. He is assisted by the beautiful British agent Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), who has only one flaw – she cannot be completely trusted, as she may well be working for the other side.
