The famous musical by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg presented in a concert performance at the Prince Edward Theatre in London to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its premiere. Puccini’s world-renowned opera Madama Butterfly, written at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, tells the tragic love story of an American man and a Japanese woman. Almost a hundred years later, in 1989, the musical Miss Saigon premiered in London, where its authors Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg moved the story in both time and place: this time it takes place after the Vietnam War, in Saigon and Bangkok between 1975 and 1978. The Japanese heroine Cio-Cio-San was replaced by the Vietnamese girl Kim, and the sailor Pinkerton by the soldier Chris. The original West End cast in London was led by Filipino singer Lea Salonga and British tenor Simon Bowman, and also featured the renowned actor Jonathan Pryce. Twenty-five years later, a special anniversary concert performance was created, with the leading roles sung by Eva Noblezada, Alistair Brammer and Jon Jon Briones...
