Imagine that your reality is an illusion and your darkest nightmares are actually true. Imagine that your present is actually the past and the future is happening right now. If you can imagine this, then you will feel like the hero of The Matrix, Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves). And believe me, it won't be a pleasant feeling. Anderson is a normal young man just trying to survive in the everyday hustle and bustle of the modern big city. And he has all the ingredients to succeed: good friends, a loving family and a promising job at the multinational computer company Meta Cortech. But one day, or rather night, a terrible nightmare bites into his happy brain. It seems to him that he has been inserted against his will in the form of data into a computer, and all that he has considered his destiny until now is just a swirl of data around a few printed connections. He feels that his mind has been stolen and trapped in the giant Matrix computer of the future. He begins to seriously doubt his everyday reality. Has he really been thrown into the machine? Who is responsible? Are the several hundred people he knows locked in there with him? Or are they just projections to maintain a semblance of reality? And then there's the all-important question: if it's all true, what happens when his captors find out he knows it?
