There's a hurricane raging outside, but that's nothing compared to the storm raging at the hotel in Key Largo. Hiding out is sadistic gangster Johnny Rocco (Edward G. Robinson), who has hotel owner Nora Temple (Lauren Bacall), her invalid father-in-law (Lionel Barrymore) and ex-soldier Frank McCloud (Humphrey Bogart) in his sights.
McCloud is the only one able to stand up to the aggressive Rocco, but the realities of the post-war world seem to have sucked all the will to fight out of him.
