Three generations of acting greats come together in this crime thriller written by Kario Salem and directed by Frank Oz. Robert De Niro plays Nick Wells, an aging thief whose specialty is robbing safes and who is on the verge of retiring to run his jazz club and pursue his girlfriend Diane (Angela Bassett). But before he can finally call it quits, Nick is forced by his mentor and business partner, flamboyant and extravagant bootlegger Max (Marlon Brando), to do one last job.
Max is plotting a heist at the Montreal customs house and has his man on the inside, Jackie Teller (Edward Norton), a talented but volatile con man who has managed to worm his way into the facility's staff as a fellow sufferer of cerebral palsy. Jackie, however, objects to Nick's interference in "his" actions and threatens violence when it appears he will be cut out of the action. Meanwhile, Nick increasingly dislikes the operation because it violates his two most important thieving rules: always work alone and never do business in your own town...
