- Description
When a sniper accidentally shoots five victims, Detective Emerson (David Oyelowo) finds evidence that incriminates paranoid former Marine James Barr (Joseph Sikora). It's an easy case for prosecutor Rodin (Richard Jenkins), but Barr refuses to sign a confession and asks to find Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise). When he is bussed to the prison, the other inmates beat him up and Barr ends up in the hospital in a coma. Pacifist attorney Helen Rodin (Rosamund Pike), who is the daughter of the prosecutor, decides to defend him, but Jack Reacher is a former military criminal who has retired from the army and become an unknown drifter. Out of the blue, Jack shows up in town and Helen invites him to work for her on the case. It soon becomes apparent that the accused is probably innocent and a conspiracy is behind the murders...
