Emboldened by the return of Lord Voldemort, the Death Eaters are wreaking havoc in both the Muggle and wizarding worlds, and Hogwarts is no longer the safe place it once was. Harry suspects that the danger is right at Hogwarts, but Dumbledore is focused on preparing for the final battle that is fast approaching. He needs Harry to help him uncover an important key that will lead to the unraveling of Voldemort's defenses - but only former Hogwarts professor Horace Crylan knows the crucial information.
Knowing this, Dumbledore convinces his old colleague to return to his old job, promising him a higher salary, a bigger office, and the chance to teach the famous Harry Potter. Meanwhile, a completely different enemy is attacking the students - teenage hormones. Harry's long-standing friendship with Ginny Weasley grows into deeper feelings, but her boyfriend, Dean Thomas, stands in the way, not to mention her big brother Ron. Only Ron has enough romantic entanglements of his own to worry about - Lavender Brown spares no expense in her love for him, and Hermione is jealous in seclusion but determined not to show her feelings at any cost.
And to top it all off, the love potion-infused chocolates end up in the wrong hands and change everything completely. Romance flourishes everywhere, but one of the students stays out of it all because he has other things on his mind. He is determined to stand out from the crowd and leave a mark, albeit a dark one. Love may be in the air, but tragedy is looming and even Hogwarts will never be the same...
