Not even his daughter can persuade Josef Winklar to give up his passion for alcohol. A chamber psychological drama about a young girl who decides to search for her father, whose name and address she knows only from the alimony she receives. After an awkward reunion, she soon realizes that her father, working on a geological survey, is a heavy drinker, reacting to his screwed-up life. The starkly told, intimate story, shot in black and white, is set amidst a snowy wasteland and relies on excellent, soulful performances.
