Emma Woodhouse (Anya Taylor-Joy) is beautiful, smart, wealthy, and quite emancipated for her time. She also possesses a very peculiar talent—the ability to bring together individuals of the opposite sex and lead them down the aisle. At least, that’s what she starts to believe when she masterfully marries off her governess to a wealthy widower. Her next project becomes the planned match between the young and naive Harriet and the local clergyman. Although Emma’s father (Bill Nighy) warns her not to meddle, and her childhood friend George Knightley tries to explain that love cannot be commanded, the matchmaker Emma pushes Harriet toward marriage with the priest with the stubborn force of Cupid.
