Description:

The Marigold Hotel is located in Jaipur, India, and in the previous film, it became a haven for seven somewhat elegant and somewhat eccentric British pensioners, played with gusto by the elite of British acting. Now, the Marigold Hotel is fully occupied by permanent guests, and its manager Muriel (Maggie Smith) and owner Sonny (Dev Patel) want to expand their business. They have a big dream, called the Second Marigold Hotel. Meanwhile, the other members of their group enjoy not only rediscovered joy for life in India but also new friendships and loves. Evelyn and Douglas (Judi Dench and Bill Nighy) ponder every day where their shared breakfasts might lead them, while Norman and Carol (Ronald Pickup and Diana Hardcastle) are already navigating the stormy waters of their relationship. Madge (Celia Imrie) dazzles two suitors at once, but faces a tough choice, as both are wealthy maharajas. Sonny's mother becomes the muse of a new hotel guest, writer Guy Chambers (Richard Gere). And it is the growing relationship between his mother and Guy that Sonny struggles with. He is convinced that this mysterious writer is actually a secret American hotel inspector, sent to evaluate the quality of his hotel services and potentially jeopardize his plans to integrate the hotels into a global network. To make matters worse, his own wedding to Sunaina is approaching. And a proper Indian wedding is a much more complicated project than building a new hotel. Sonny is desperately failing at both. Thankfully, he is surrounded by British friends who solve everything with humor, because depriving the audience of a wedding finale would almost be a crime...
