Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) worked as a capable hospital surgeon. Due to a car accident in which he sustained a severe injury to his hands, he can no longer continue his work. Desperate, Stephen decides to find solace in the teachings of ancient magic and hopes that with its help he can find a cure for his injury. This endeavour swallows up his entire fortune and renders him homeless, performing minor medical procedures for minimal remuneration. Everything changes suddenly when he learns of a powerful ancient magician living in the Himalayas. Strange sets out to meet the mage and becomes his magician's apprentice. He must compete fiercely with the Master's other apprentice, Mord (Chiwetel Ejiofor), for the position of the world's greatest magician. So the former doctor undergoes a long journey of dark magic to protect the world from a new kind of evil...
