Adonis Johnson never knew his famous father, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who died before he was born. Yet he can't deny his origins and boxing is in his blood, so he's still drawn to Philadelphia, the city where the legendary Apollo Creed vs. Rocky Balboa fight took place.
Adonis seeks out Rocky and asks him to become his trainer. Rocky initially refuses, as the ring is a thing of the past for him, but gradually discovers in Adonis the strength and determination of his father Apollo, a former rival and close friend.
So he finally agrees to take on the young boxer, even though he himself is fighting a much more dangerous opponent. Under Rocky's tutelage, Adonis is on track to win his own title, but does he have the heart of a true fighter in addition to his talent?
