Max (Jamie Foxx) has led his earthly life as a taxi driver for 12 years. The faces of his passengers deflate in front of him like in a mirror, coming and going. Until today. Vincent (Tom Cruise) is a hit man. One of the best. When the leadership of an international narco cartel learns that some of its members are to be indicted by a federal grand jury, they decide to mount an operation in which all of the Crown witnesses will be incapacitated. The deadline to carry out the operation is this very night. That evening, Vincent arrives in L.A. By morning, five people are expected to be dead. Coincidentally, it's Max's cab that Vincent flags down. And Max becomes an unwilling hostage - a person with no hope of rescue because he is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Over the course of the night, Vincent forces Max to drive him to all the places where the murder is to take place. And before the Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI can prosecute, Vincent's and Max's chances of survival begin to depend entirely on each other...
