Jack Cunningham (Ben Affleck) is a former high school basketball star. But he quit playing long ago and now makes his living as a construction worker. He spends most of his time in a bar. When he's not drinking there, he's drinking at home or at work.
He and his wife (Janina Gavankar) have been separated for a year now, and he maintains only minimal contact with his family. When he gets an unexpected offer to coach the local high school basketball team, which has long been no match for anyone, it may be his last chance to get back to real life...
