American Rick Blaine runs a nightclub in Casablanca during World War II. Anyone who needs a fake passport or wants to get a bit of a buzz comes here. One day, Victor Laszlo, an anti-fascist fighter (although with a Hungarian name, according to the script a man of Czech origin), comes to Rick's place with his wife Ilsa.
They want to get a visa and escape from the Gestapo to the USA as soon as possible. But Rick recognises his ex-girlfriend in Lazsla's wife. Soon the couple reunite and plan their escape together...
