Lieutenant Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) of the Los Angeles Police Department is known for his clumsiness and unorthodox methods. When he learns that an assassination attempt is planned against Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Los Angeles, he decides to take action. Together with his partner Jane Spencer (Priscilla Presley) and colleague Captain Ed Hocken (George Kennedy), he attempts to uncover and thwart the plans of criminal Vincent Ludwig (Ricardo Montalbán). The film is filled with parody gags, slapstick humor, and situational comedy that are characteristic of the series.
