The tragicomic story of a young man in his seventies, an eternal dreamer, a pimp and a recessionist (Vlastimil Brodský), who, unlike his beloved, worried wife (Stella Zázvorková), refuses to accept the fate of resigned old age and lives his life as a never-ending challenge in which every day becomes a wonderful opportunity for a new adventure. Together with his faithful and devoted operetta friend, he brings theatrical roles to life, fulfilling his unfulfilled dreams. He performs as an emeritus member of the Metropolitan Operetta who buys locks, as a reviser, a climber and a do-gooder. In a series of rewarding comic situations, full of subtle and black humour, he wars with his wife for his carefree independence, proving time and again what the ART OF LIVING is all about.
