Federico Fellini’s autobiographical film Amarcord is set in Rimini, the director’s hometown, during the 1930s. In the film, Fellini reminisces about his adolescence – including first erotic experiences, secret cinema visits, and platonic love. The film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1975 (and was also nominated for a Golden Globe in the same category that year). In 1976, it received Oscar nominations for Best Director and Original Screenplay. Fellini was further honored with numerous other awards, including the New York Film Critics Circle Award, the Silver Ribbon from the Italian National Syndicate of Journalists, and the David Award from the French Syndicate of Film Critics.
