The film “322” follows the story of a man confronted with the inevitable threat of a serious illness – the number 322 in the title refers to one of the medical diagnoses. At its core, it is an existential and psychological statement: the main character re-examines his life, values, and moral responsibility – especially in relation to past events (such as the 1950s) and a society that appears indifferent and selfish.
Director Dušan Hanák employs a minimalist style, combining documentary and metaphorical elements to depict not only the inner disintegration of an individual but also a broader social crisis. The film was made in 1969 in black and white and stands among the most distinctive debuts of the Czechoslovak New Wave.
The Blu-ray edition now presents a restored version, allowing audiences to rediscover the film in high quality.
