In its series premiere, the HBO-produced detective drama Dark Case targets two police investigators and former colleagues, "Rust" Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Marty Hart (Woody Harrelson), who worked in the Louisiana Homicide Division in the mid-1990s. Seventeen years later, for reasons that are still unclear, they are called in for a series of interrogations regarding their most notorious case - the brutal 1995 murder of a prostitute, believed to have been carried out by a serial killer with disturbing occult tendencies.The two detectives find themselves back on an unsolved case, with the stories of their lives and their often highly strained relationships coming to light, becoming the focus of the film. Hart and Cohle's shared obsession with catching a serial killer is the main driver of the plot, but the most interesting drama unfolds around the relationship between two complicated characters - men, detectives and friends at the same time...
