The Dark Crystal

The cruel Skeksis have ruled for a thousand years, and according to the prophecy, only the little gelfling Jen can save the world from permanent evil. He embarks on a long journey to find the shard of the Dark Crystal, the Crystal Shard. If he fails, will the Skeksis gain control of the world forever? In another world, a crystal cracked a thousand years ago and a piece of it - the Crystal Shard - was lost. Two new races have emerged: the cruel Skeksis and the kindly Mystics. The Skeksis have seized power in the Crystal Castle, and the Dark Crystal hangs over the Shaft of Air and Fire. There are only ten of them left, their Emperor is dying and a new leader is being chosen. The Mystics have moved away from the castle and into the valley, where they live a natural, harmonious life. But there are only ten of them left, and their leader is dying, and they are electing a new one. In the valley of the Mystics lives a gelfling named Jen, whose entire tribe was slaughtered by the Skeksis and raised by the Mystics. According to the prophecy, Jen is supposed to heal a world that would otherwise fall to evil. As the dying Supreme Mystic tells him, he must find the Crystal Shard that Aughra has, and if he can't, the Skeksis will rule forever... So Jen sets out on a journey. Meanwhile, the Skeksis are competing to be the new emperor. The general wins the duel and his opponent, the chamberlain, who loses, is banished from the community. Suddenly, Krystal starts calling and shows the Skeksis a gelfling on the way. The Skeksis know the prophecy, so they send monstrous garthim to find and kill Jen. Meanwhile, he reaches Aughra and asks her for the Crystal Shard. He must choose from the several shards Aughra has given him, and he succeeds. He learns that he must use it to heal the Dark Crystal before the great conjunction of the three suns...
