Star Wars. The familiar faces were complemented by a new face, Daisy Ridley, who had to beat off stiff competition and eventually won the role of Rey. New actors include BAFTA Rising Star Award winner John Boyega (Attack on the Tower, Imperial Dreams), who played the shy stormtrooper Finn. Emmy-nominated Adam Driver (Lincoln, Girls) played the evil Kylo Ren and Golden Globe Award winner Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis, The Bourne Legacy) embodied the character of resistance pilot Poe Dameron. Star Wars: The Force Awakens was directed by J.J. Abrams, the screenplay was written by Lawrence Kasdan, J.J. Abrams and Michael Arndt. The film was produced by Lucasfilm president and eight-time Academy Award nominee Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and his longtime collaborator Bryan Burk. Renowned film composer John Williams composed the iconic music for the six previous installments of the Star Wars saga and returned for the filming of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He rightfully earned his 50th Oscar nomination for the new film's score.
