Two soldiers from the US base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, are accused of murdering a colleague. The case seems exceedingly clear. The military prosecutor's office entrusts the defence of the two accused to Lieutenant Kaffee, a young, ambitious lawyer who is renowned for his exceptionally quick out-of-court settlements. Kaffee wants to advise his clients to plead guilty and extract the lowest possible sentence. But Captain Galloway, charged with overseeing the entire case, is of a different opinion. She believes that the two accused merely carried out the orders of their commanding officer. His belief in his own professional abilities and the fact that his matchmaker is a beautiful young woman persuades Kaffee to attempt the impossible. He decides to prove the defendants' innocence against their will. He knows he's taking an enormous risk. He must gather the necessary evidence and, above all, openly confront the commander of the Guantanamo base, Colonel Jessep, a man with an impeccable military record and connections at the highest levels.
