In the near future, the wealthy will purchase a life insurance policy - a clone that will provide them with organs if needed. These beings are kept in an underground bunker under the cover of the infested earth's surface. However, two "products" see through the lie, escape, and decide to free their comrades as well... The year is 2019, and Lincoln 6-Echo is one of the lucky survivors of Earth's contamination, now living in a vast modern Institute under constant surveillance. There he befriends a lovely girl, Jordan 2-Delta, who is chosen to move to the Island. Supposedly it is the only place on the globe that is not infested, and everyone longs to be able to travel there.
But Lincoln, unlike the others, is haunted by persistent questions for which he seeks answers. And when he manages to infiltrate the tech sector, he discovers that all of the Institute's inhabitants are part of a terrifying cloning experiment, that Earth has not been destroyed, and that the Island does not exist. Also, Lincoln and Jordan are clones of real people who are to be given replacement organs for transplant. The pair manage to escape, and although the world of humans is dangerous and in many ways incomprehensible to them, they know that they must fight for their freedom, not only for themselves, but for the other imprisoned beings destined for destruction... Everyone's dream is to be chosen to travel to the mysterious Island.
