This fairy-tale fantasy for young and old audiences was made by director Wolfgang Petersen in 1984, at a considerable cost of around $27 million. The film was made in the Munich studios and involved many trick specialists. It is the story of a young boy, Bastien, who gets his hands on a magical book in an antique shop. The boy hides there from his pursuers and the old owner soon notices the boy's interest in the book. Reading it, Bastien becomes part of the Neverending Story.
