Clara (Mackenzie Foy) wants one thing, and that's a key - one that will open the box that holds a gift from her late mother. A golden thread, spun by her godson Drosselmeyer (Morgan Freeman) on Christmas Eve, leads her to the key - only for it to vanish in a flash into a mysterious and fantastical parallel world.
It's there that Clara meets soldier and nutcracker Philip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), an army of mice and the regents who rule the three realms: The Realm of Snowflakes, the Realm of Flowers and the Realm of Sweets.
Clara and Philip must enter the Fourth Realm, ruled by the cruel Gingerbread Woman (Helen Mirren), to retrieve Clara's key and, if possible, return harmony to an unstable world...
