Top doctor and engineer Dr. Ryan Stone (Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock) embarks on her first space mission, accompanied by veteran astronaut Matt Kowalski (Academy Award winner George Clooney). During a seemingly routine ascent into interstellar space, disaster strikes.
The shuttle is destroyed and Stone and Kowalski find themselves all alone, tethered only to each other, heading into the dark depths of space. Fear slowly turns to panic, and their tiny oxygen supply grows thinner with every breath. But to get home means venturing into even more distant corners of that terrible void...
