The dramatic story, dedicated to the fate of the ambassador and later Czechoslovak Foreign Minister, Jan Masaryk, goes back to the time just before the Second World War. The 1930s saw the height of Masaryk's diplomatic career, which he spent mostly in Great Britain, trying to get the world powers to side with Czechoslovakia. The man, praised as a brilliant orator, entertaining companion and lover of life, has a dark side. Masaryk seeks escape from his name, from responsibility and from himself in a life of debauchery, alcohol and drugs, but also in constant self-torture.
The then ambassador to London suddenly disappears from public life. He cuts off contact with political colleagues and friends. He disappears for several months, to America...
