Twenty-two years ago, the dream of eccentric millionaire John Hammond, who wanted to grow a Jurassic Park with living exhibits from dinosaur DNA on a remote island, ended tragically. Since then, however, much has changed, and the park is running at full speed, with millions of enthusiastic visitors passing through each year, their eyes glued to their heads as they watch dozens of "extinct" animals in action.
But the park management is always looking for new ways to make this unique attraction even more attractive. And that's where the complications come in. The scientific experiments with new species are mightily supported by the austere park manager Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), who sees the animals primarily as numbers. In contrast, biologist Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) sees them mainly as dangerous, especially creatures created not by nature but by the lab.
Events prove him right when one of these pets literally breaks free from its tether and begins to improve the diet of park employees and eventually visitors, including Claire's two nephews who have come to visit their aunt for the holidays. Now it's no longer about more sales or maintaining prestige. The goal for all of them has become bare survival...
