Two paranormal investigators, the experienced Dr. Margaret Matheson (Sigourney Weaver) and her young assistant Tom Buckley (Cillian Murphy), investigate various metaphysical phenomena in order to prove them wrong. Simon Silver (Robert De Niro), a legendary blind psychic who mysteriously disappeared thirty years ago, suddenly reappears, and his case becomes a big deal for modern science.
Tom becomes obsessed with Silver's case, and his obsession deepens with each new piece of evidence of unexplained events. As Tom gets closer to Silver, the tension mounts and his worldview is shaken to its foundations...
