The world of the distant future is not an ideal place to live in, yet there are people living there who selflessly help others. For example, cyberdoctor Ido (Christoph Waltz) scours through landfills to find working parts that he can implant into people who have lost body parts. That's how he discovers Alita (Rosa Salazar), a damaged cyborg with the heart and soul of a teenage girl, and brings her back to life.
When she wakes up, Alita knows nothing. She doesn't remember her past, she doesn't recognize the world around her, but she immediately soaks up a plethora of new information. Alita is introduced to the life of her peers by Hugo (Keean Johnson), a young rebel with a motorcycle, who impresses her from the first time they meet.
